  • FITUR 2018 joins the solidarity challenge that MSF and CEAV launch at the trade fair as part of its campaign
    This year, FITUR joins the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies, CEAV , and Doctors Without Borders, MSF, to promote the "" campaign. A collaboration designed for the promotion of this initiative through the different communication platforms for the great international event of the Tourism sector, organized by IFEMA from January 17 to 21, as well as its dissemination among FITUR visitors, providing a space at the trade fair to boost the campaign and to achieve the challenge they have proposed: get enough support to fill 100 humanitarian aid planes.
  • The world tourism industry gathers around the most technological staging of FITUR
    The Trade Show has grown by 8%, in line with the good moment that the world tourism sector is enjoying and with the record figures in Spain.

    International participation has grown by 13%, and includes new countries and new official representations. There has also been a growth in the participation of national representations (3%) and of technological firms (16%).

    India will be the FITUR Partner and will be the fifth country by presence in the Trade Show.

    FITUR will be breaking ground as an ‘Augmented Trade Show’, since it will premiere the development of a set of tourist and trade show management apps. They will deploy their functionalities with 5G technology in the near future.

    The strategy of segmentation has added the new FITUR FESTIVALS to its monographic sections, in response to the growing specialisation and the search for new market niches.
    The Trade Show will be generating 260 million euros over its five days, and will strengthen the various sectors connected to tourism in Madrid.

    IFEMA kicks off the international schedule of tourism trade fairs with FITUR 2018, the great business and professional meeting platform that will present the latest proposals, destinations and news of world tourism in Madrid between 17th-21st January. Like every year, this staging will allow agents from this industry to establish the lines of work that will set the programme for the whole year. Many business meetings will be held and contacts and business exchanges will be made.

    The International Tourism Fair, FITUR, organised by IFEMA at the Feria de Madrid from the 17th to the 21st January 2018, once again presents B2B meetings, with extensive participation and a structure aimed at promoting business contacts and exchanges. The meetings will be held at this new edition of FITUR on the 17th, 18th and 19th of January, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

    The conferences, under the common title of ‘Tourism Intelligences’, will comprise four panels where professional experts in the sector will intervene.

    Spain is again at the forefront in tourism management, holding onto its first place in the index of most popular tourist destinations in the world, as developed by the World Economic Forum.

    FRUIT ATTRACTION 2018 has shifted its dates to optimise the opportunities for business meetings between its participants
    On its 10th Anniversary, the trade fair dates have been moved to Tuesday to Thursday after an analysis of the results of the surveys of exhibitors and international visitors who attended last year's edition

    Fruit Attraction 2018 is changing to a Tuesday through Thursday schedule, as opposed to Wednesday through Friday, mainly to expand and better leverage the amount of time available for doing business at the event. Thus, the 10th Anniversary of the trade fair will take place from Tuesday, the 23rd, to Thursday, the 25th of October at IFEMA, with opening hours from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on all three days.

    Fitur Know-How & Export 2018, the monographic section of the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, devoted to digital transformation, is launching the second edition of SEGITTURLab, an ideas laboratory with six practical workshops for tourism entrepreneurs and professionals that seeks to provide responses for the needs emerging from digital tourism.
  • Shopping tourism under analysis at FITUR 2018
    In the January 18th session, the FITUR SHOPPING section will be discussing some of the key issues for this tourist segment that is already one of the main motivations for millions of people when it comes to choosing a destination

    The upcoming edition of FITUR will again set the stage for analysing shopping tourism in its FITUR SHOPPING section. The Trade Fair, which is organised by IFEMA and will be staged from 17 to 21 January at Feria de Madrid, will thus discuss on 18 January some of the key issues for the development of this key segment of the tourism industry.-

    On this occasion, FITUR SHOPPING will revolve around a series of round tables that will discuss topics such as: ‘Shopping tourism at the destination: global brands and local design’; ‘Shopping tourism in distinctive Madrid shops’; and ‘Shopping Tourism and Digitisation’.
  • The UNWTO announces the shortlist for the Innovation in Tourism Awards
    The Award presentations will take place on 17 January 2018 as part of FITUR

    The World Tourism Organisation has announced the names of the finalists for the fourteenth edition of the UNWTO Innovation in Tourism Awards. The fourteen finalists were shortlisted from among 128 projects entered from 55 countries. The winners will be announced on 17 January 2018 during the UNWTO Awards Presentation Ceremony which, for the fifth consecutive year, will be held at FITUR, the Madrid International Tourism Trade Fair organised by IFEMA from 17 to 21 January at Feria de Madrid.
  • FITUR 2018 to anticipate future applications of 5G technology for the tourism industry
    The IFEMA LAB 5G research team is working on the development of 5G prototypes based on four applications: “Augmented Trade Fair”, “Time Travel”, “Translator” and “Teleport”

    The prototypes will be presented at the forthcoming staging of the International Tourism Trade Fair organised by IFEMA from 17 to 21 January at Feria de Madrid

    The work performed by IFEMA LAB 5G, launched by IFEMA and 5TONIC back in September, is achieving advances in the research and development of various 5G prototypes for application to the tourism sector. The prototypes will provide the initial gateway to an understanding of the potential offered by this innovative technology, which will completely transform the way we experience tourism and tourism management within the context of the trade fair, providing access to practically unlimited communications, data and computation services in real time.
